Call Forwarding

by Jazz

Call Forwarding on Jazz lets you send incoming calls somewhere else when you are busy, out of coverage, or want quiet. Typical targets are voice mail or another Jazz mobile number. Jazz lists the feature as standard for GSM customers, not a separate daily subscription.

There is no Rs X per day line item in the JSON feed. You pay normal call charges on forwarded legs according to your package or base tariff.

Fair usage policy

Each forwarded leg may count as a new call. Off-net forwarding rules follow your voice tariff.

Restrictions

Not a flat-fee VAS. Misconfigured unconditional forward can send all calls away.

Terms & conditions

Jazz general PTA-approved terms apply. Confirm forwarding tariffs for your city on the official call forwarding page.

Modes users configure

Most handsets support:

ConditionTypical use
UnreachableSend when phone is off or no signal
No answerSend after rings expire
UnconditionalSend every call immediately

Unconditional forward is powerful. A wrong number forwards your entire day of calls to a friend or dead SIM.

How to set it up

Jazz does not publish one short code in the JSON extract. Use your phone Settings, Call settings, Call divert, or Call forwarding. Enter the target Jazz number or voice mail access number Jazz provides for your plan.

SIMOSA may expose shortcuts on some builds. If menus confuse you, call 111 from Jazz.

Charges

Activation is free. Jazz notes nominal call charges apply as per package plan. If you have free Jazz minutes, they may consume first. Off-net forwards can burn balance fast.

Who needs it

Shop staff sharing a backup phone, field workers routing to supervisor, or anyone using voice mail instead of missed-call anxiety.

Who should be careful

Avoid unconditional forward to untrusted numbers. Turn off forwarding when you return to normal coverage. Test with a friend call before you travel.

Difference from VIP Call or MCA

Call Forwarding is handset/network divert. VIP Call filters callers with PIN. Missed Call Alert stores missed call info when off. Pick the tool that matches the problem.

Voice mail versus second SIM

Forwarding everything to a second Jazz phone is popular for shop counters. Staff answer the backup handset while the owner keeps the primary SIM in pocket.

International forward caution

Jazz overview focuses on Jazz GSM targets. International unconditional forward can create shocking bills. Block international forward in phone settings if not needed.

Testing checklist

Ask a friend to call while you toggle each forward mode. Confirm target answers. Wrong targets waste sales.

Deactivate after travel

Road trips often enable unreachable forward to home. Disable on return or home phone rings all day.

Relation to Jazz Auto Reply

Auto Reply plays audio while phone is busy on your SIM. Forwarding sends call elsewhere. You can combine both, but callers may get confused.

Postpaid parity

Postpaid customers get the same network feature set with bill-cycle charging on forwarded minutes.

When care helps

If handset menus lack divert options, Jazz care can confirm whether SIM profile blocks call forwarding.

Zero subscription but real cost

Price field is zero because there is no VAS fee. Budget forwarded minute consumption anyway.

Dual SIM phones

Forward primary Jazz to secondary Jazz backup inside one phone. Useful for traders with two slots.

Conditional forward timers

Some phones let no-answer forward delay rings. Align delay with Jazz voicemail timer to avoid double answer.

Enterprise users

Small offices forward main line to duty mobile after 6 pm. Saves buying second subscription package if minutes pooled on duty SIM.

Testing unreachable forward

Enable airplane mode test: friend calls, should hit forward target if configured.

Cost control

Forwarded off-net long distance inherits IDD or off-net tariff. Watch weekly hybrid off-net bucket.

Disable before MNP

Turn off unconditional forward before porting number out. Stray forward can break port testing.

iPhone users

iOS uses Settings, Phone, Call Forwarding toggle with GSM dependency. Not all Jazz MVNO profiles expose it.

Summary

Free feature, real minute cost. Configure deliberately.

Shop counter scenario walkthrough

Imagine a cloth shop with one Jazz line on display phone. Owner forwards unreachable calls to personal Jazz when stepping to prayer. Customer still reaches human without second subscription package on display SIM if minutes exist on target line.

Night mode planning

Forward to home after 9 pm if shop line rings in bedroom. Disable forward at opening time 10 am. Forgetting morning disable loses sales.

Checking forward status

Some Android phones show forward icon in status bar. iPhone shows phone icon with arrow. Visual reminder helps audits.

Voice mail versus human forward

Voice mail costs retrieval airtime. Human forward costs live conversation minutes. Pick based on whether message or dialogue is needed.
